Well I guess it's time to get over the crab legs and move forward. Today we had an another kidnapping. My wonderful husband was home on a vacation day. We had decided to go to the Museum of Science and Industry (because it is free for the month of January). But due to the weather and the distance we decided against it. We ended up at the Dupage Children's Museum with James, Jenna , Quin and Paige in toe. Everyone had a great time. The water works area was a BIG hit. We enjoyed the fellowship and daddy stopped at the popcorn shop for me on the way home. Downtown Naperville has the best little shops and the popcorn is the best. We even had KFC for dinner. I'm thankful for a nice family and a nice family to spend it with.

Crab Crabby Crab

Saturday Night we had the privilege of having dinner with our friends Bob and Cindy. I have never in my life seen crab legs so big. I LOVE CRAB LEGS. I'm telling you if you love crab legs
you would have been in heaven. It was the most awesome dinning experience I think I have ever had. Thank You Bob and Cindy for making it so much fun for our family. You guys are very sweet friends. I look forward to many more dinner in the future. (next one is one us). the food was great and the fellowship was even better. I thank the Lord for all the wonderful friends that He has given us at GBC.
Sunday at GBC was once again a real blessing. The morning service was about quiting and the evening service was about money. I'm thankful for a pastor that is not afraid to preach the truth from the Word of God. And as always it was very convicting. You can not attend the GBC and be a crusty christian. It is impossible. Thank You Lord for my church and for my VERY hard working pastor.

Chocolate and Hot Dogs

Friday Night at our house is family night. This week we tried to make homemade corn dogs. The kids were so excited. They didn't turn out as well as I had excepted. I didn't have a deep fryer so it was hard to keep all the breading on the hot dog. If I could have stood them up I would have been able too keep all the yummy part on them. Oh well the kids had lots of fun and so did we. The breading taste good and the hot dogs were good too, getting it all on the same stick was a challenge. Oh well you win some and you lose some.

On Saturday my friend and I went to the Chocolate Fest in Naperville. That was so much fun. They had demonstrations and entrainment of all kinds. They also had a competition were you could vote on your favorite chocolate creation. The best part was you could buy and sample all the chocolate the you wanted. It was relaxing to get out of the house and have a "girls" day. And what girl doesn't like chocolate.

This Was Fun

All the homeschoolers from our church are in a program called book it. This is where the children have to read books and receive pizza awards for reading. Quin has participated in this program this entire school year. Today we finished one of our books called Horrible Harry and the Green Slime. I was of course asked the question " mom is that true?" to which I replied. "Of course it is" and then of course the next natural question "Can WE make some?" and before I knew what I was saying "I remember the recipe from my teaching days I guess we can." So for all those daring moms who let their children read the blog or all the brave moms out there. Here is the recipe.
1/2 cup of school glue
Cornstarch (as much as you think you need)
equal parts water
three drops of green food coloring
Stir until you think it "feels" right and play with it with your fingers as much as possible
This is lots of fun and cleans up easily with water.
P.S. If you try this do it while dad's at work because my husband was applaud by the mess. ( we usually clean it all up before daddy gets home.)
Tomorrow night for family night I'm going to try homemade corn dogs. That should prove to be interesting. I'll let you know.

We Need To Laugh

It has been quite a week already. I have had friends in the hospital , ( needing visits) and people who depend on me (besides my family) needing things from me. There have been many more "extra" things piled on me this week. I have been out of the house every night this week and I am beginning to get tired. I came home from church tonight and put the kids to bed and sat down with my "PICK ME UP FILE AND MY BIBLE' after reading two chapters in Proverbs and flipping through my "file" I found this. I thought it was funny. I thought that you might enjoy it. Some people may not like it and the author probably was trying to offend someone but it made me laugh and I needed some thing light hearted so here we go.

HOW DOES A HOMESCHOOLER CHANGE A LIGHT BULB

First, mom checks three books on electricity out of the library, then the kids make models of light bulbs, read a biography of Thomas Edison and so a skit based on his life.

Next, everyone studies the history of lighting methods, wrapping up with dipping their own candles.

Next, everyone takes a trip to the store where they compare types of light bulbs as well as prices and figure out how much change they'll get if they buy two bulbs for $1.99 and pay with a five dollar bill.

On the way home, a discussion develops over the history of money and also Abraham Lincoln, as his picture is on the five dollar bill.

Finally, after building a homemade ladder out of branches dragged from the woods, the light bulb is installed.

And there is light.

I thought that this is funny and I enjoyed. Well, I'm heading for bed. Tomorrow is my favorite day of the week Thursday. Night Night

Fun Fun Fun

This morning we got up and "freshened" our afternoon box. We had so much fun playing in the box that no one wanted to clean up for dinner. Including mommy. Thank You Julie for all your great ideas and great meeting for the home schoolers. Thank you also for the tape. We loved it.

Round Up Sunday

Last Sunday was Round Up Sunday at GBC. It was a wonderful day. There was great fellowship and wonderful food. We had a shipwreck (Paul's) in Children's Church and a HUGE thunderstorm. We had soooo much fun teaching with Jon and April Sweet. They are the best.
The music in the evening service was a blessing and it was an encouragement to hear the testimony of Bruce Frye. GBC had another GREAT round up Sunday.

It Could be Worse

In this part of the country it is the coldest day of the year. I think it's around two degrees. In this household we are experiencing some form of Chinese touchier. You see, my smoke detector in the bedroom up stairs is going off BEEP BEEP BEEP. I think I'm going to lose my mind. When it gets real cold outside the condensation in the wires gets moist and it sets the smoke detectors off. I have tried EVERYTHING that I can think of to get to the ceiling to get it down. You see we have 9 foot ceilings and I am simply not tall enough. I will have to wait until my husband gets home. I'm very thankful that it's Wednesday because he comes home early for church. We only have 1and1/2 hours to go of the BEEP BEEP BEEP. Gina claims that I will look back and laugh about this but right now it not funny. Today I have unplugged a smelly toilet, cleaned up after the dog. did four loads of laundry, and wiped a lot of noses. It's all in a days work. The Bible tells me to be thankful in all things. I'm bringing the new year in with many messes and LOTS OF BEEPING. Praise the Lord !!! I'm warm, we have food in the house, and the Lord provided the money to have our bills paid. It could be worse. Thank You Lord for all the things you have given me ,including my hearing.

We Are So Excited

We are so excited!!!! Sam's baby sister is getting married. Rhonda Todd has waited for 41 years for the man that the Lord had for her. Praise the Lord she found him. Steve Spencer is a Godly man and we could not be happier for Rhonda. The Lord called Steve's first wife home and Steve has three beautiful children. We are gaining a new brother in law and three new cousins. We could not be happier for the five of them. Congratulations we love you. A date has not been set yet. Details to follow.

Happy New Year

I pray everyone in blogger land had a wonderful New Year's eve. We celebrated by going out to a Brazilian Steakhouse with our dear friends Bill and Gina. It was so much fun to get all dressed up and get babysitters and sit in a nice restaurant and talk about how good the Lord has been to us. We talked about the things that each family wants to accomplish in 2008 and we talked about the blessing we have had in 2007. We finished our evening by looking at Christmas light and a Starbucks on the way home. The Lord has been VERY good to the Todd family this year. We have two healthy beautiful children and a great church and MANY wonderful friends.
I hope 2008 finds you happy and content with every thing that the Lord has done for you. HAPPY NEW YEAR

P.S. Quin wants me to mention that he made it until 12:00 and watched the fireworks in Navy Pier. Happy Year to all.
