The Little Blessings

This morning in our local church the Lord had a special little blessings waiting just for me. This brought tears to my eyes. My husband and I serve in Children's Church in our local church and a few weeks ago I had a chance to lead one of the little ladies to the Lord. She came up to me this morning and was very excited about a new Bible that her grandmother had bought her for Christmas. She asked me if this was the "right" Bible. (In our church we use the King James Bible only). The Bible that her grandmother had bought her was a different version. I told her that that was a very sweet Bible and that she had a very sweet grandma to care enough to get her a copy of God's word, but that if she would like I could pick her up a KJV Bible. She was so excited and so thankful that I was willing to do that. On of the main reasons that my husband and I choose to worship at GBC was the fact that the man of God would not move from the KJV Bible. WE believe that that is the WORD OF GOD. I am thankful for three things:

1. That I have had the great blessing of serving the Lord in my
local church.

2. That I have had the chance to lead this perious little one to to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ

3. That I go to a church that takes a stand on the Bible and that even the little one know the difference.

Mark 10:14 says Suffer the little children to came unto me, and forbid them not: for such is the kingdom of God.

Thank You Lord for my "little" blessing today.

A Very Merry Christmas

The Todd Family had a wonderful and bountiful Christmas complete with all the family traditions. On Friday night we went to Chicago to see the lights (this is something my husband and I have done since we met 21 years ago). On Saturday we had the first half of Sam's family and the other half tonight. Christmas Eve was a lot of fun at Grandma Brown's house. The children love to have angel food cake and sing Happy Birthday to Jesus. The house was so festive and the food was good. The fellowship was wonderful. Christmas is still my favorite time of the year. Happy Birthday to the Lord and Savior and Thank You for the blessings YOU have given us this year. I pray everyone had a Merry Christmas. May this Silent Night be one to always remember as you enjoy the Saviors birth.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to all and to all a very blessed night.

Tis The Season to be VERY Busy

At the Todd household it has been an extremely busy couple of of days. On Friday was Quinten's 8th birthday and we started our day at the Rain Forest Cafe with a few of Quin's closest friends. Friday night was the WONDERFUL Christmas Coffee with the ladies of our church. This year the Christmas coffee was more fun than ever before. I had the privilege to work with my friend Kina and who does have a BLAST on Kina's team.

Saturday our family saw Journey to Bethlehem. Both the children loved the drama of the play and we were able to research the history of the Jewish people and talk about the time and culture of Jesus. Sam had a doctor's appointment and we were able to find out that his dizziness can be treated with medication. Praise the Lord! Grandma Todd had a birthday cake for Quin and a little lunch for us as well.

Sunday is always a fun, full, and exciting day of serving the Lord and being with His people at the wonderful G.B.C. Grandma Brown had lunch and a birthday cake for Quin on Sunday. After lunch the children went sledding down grandma's hill and had a ball.

Monday I was able to take my dear friend Edith Christmas shopping and her list is now complete.

Today we went to see A Christmas Carol at Dury Lane in Oakbrook with the homeschoolers. That was a wonderful performance and everyone had a wonderful time. Thank You Miss Julie for organizing the really fun event.

Well, as you can see it has been a little crazy in the Todd household this week. We have so much to look forward too. Friday night the Kings Kids girls (and Miss Cindy and I )are having a sleep over. I'm not sure who is more excited me or the girls. I CAN'T WAIT. The Lord has been very good the the Todd family this week. We are very blessed. I pray everyone else has had a great week as well.

Snow Much Fun

Tonight, for the first time this year that we have a few inches of the beautiful white stuff, SNOW. Living in the Midwest we tend to get a lot of snow and by the end of the winter we are pretty tired of driving in it. But there is nothing more fun than the first snow fall. I know that all the smart moms out there would say that I am CRAZY but at 8:30pm Paige went to bed and we went out to play in the snow.
The moon lite and the snow lit up the back yard so nice and we had so much fun. After building our first snow man of the year we came in the house and had hot coco. The only lights on in the house are the Christmas tree and the fire place. Everything is so beautiful and the coco is so good. I'm so thankful for family. God is so good to us and we had so much fun. As I was going up stairs to take a hot bath and my (almost 8 year old ) son was going to bed he said to me "mommy this has been the best night ever, I Love You". OK mom call me CRAZY but we made a memory that our boy will never forget. Thank You Lord for such a GOOD life.

PRAISE THE LORD

Today I was Very Very blessed. My husband and I have been spending lots of money on prescription drugs for my diabetes. On Tuesday, I saw my doctor, and she said that she would like me on a new drug that cost about $280.00 a month. My husband and I can't afford that much money every month. It was very discouraging to me. My doctor and I tried to find me a way to pay for drug that I needed.

After much prayer I had my prayers answered. I have found a company that will provide me with my medications without any cash out of my pocket. Praise the Lord. With all the medication I take that is over a grand total of over $700.00. PRAISE THE LORD ---PRAISE THE LORD. God is awesome how HE takes care of our every need.

Look What I Found

Sometimes I enjoy jumping from blog to blog and last night I found my self doing that very thing. I try to stay with blogs that I know are basically Christian in nature. As I was blog surfing I came across this. (the author is unknown and I can't even tell you which blog that I got it from.)But I thought it was good so here it is:
36 Christian ways to reduce stress

Decoration Are Up

Well it's official the Christmas season is upon us. This is the cutest story. Sunday night we put up the Christmas tree and we ran out for of time for the lights. The angel of the tree was crooked. Daddy had lifted Paige up to put it on. The next morning Paige woke up and she was so upset she continued to say "My baby is falling" (I thought she was saying my baby is sleeping). She then asked to call her Grandpa (she must have thought that Grandpa could fix the angel). Grandpa of course was at work. Last night the angel was fixed and Paige was ready for her bed she said "tell Grandpa the baby is better" That's when I realized that she was talking about the angel on the top of the Christmas tree as her baby. I just love having a girl and watching her love and nurture her things. She is so sweet and so feminine about everything she does. As a mom I love both my children but it warms my heart to be able to raise a girl to be a lady. I can't wait until we can go buy "big girl dolls". (daddy says we have to be at least four).

A Kidnapping Again

Well there was another kidnapping at the Lindahl's house and oh was it fun. Tonight we took the kids to the new mall in Bolingbrook it was so neat. In the center of the mall is a huge outdoor Christmas tree and lots of lights. Every hour on the hour they play Christmas music and the light go according to the music. When we arrived they had just finished so we had to wait 45 minutes for the next light show. What were we going to do for 45 minutes with a serious fisherman and a serious fisherman's children standing right next to the Bass Pro Shop??? Well, the fish were nice and everyone loved the "sportsmen store" and the light show was good too. For me personally the high light of the evening was the Starbucks peppermint white chocolate mocha on the way home. Thanks honey that really hit the spot.

We are looking forward to tomorrow we are having our good friends Bob and Cindy for lunch after church. That will be fun as well.

We look forward to having a real nice fun day. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you.

A Very Good Book

I am reading a very good book called Homeschooling with a Meek and Quiet Spirit. by Teri Maxwell. Teri has eight children and has been homeschooling since 1985. The book talks about your personal relationship with God. Without DAILY prayer and Bible reading this spirit of meekness can not be obtained. She also talks about fear and worry. She has a chapter on disorganization.(very helpful). There is a chapter on dying to self (very convicting) and gratitude and contentment with a smile. The book concludes with a chapter on the power a homeschooling mother can have with a meek and quiet spirit. I would recommend this book to anyone who is or wants to homeschool. You can get this book at www.Titus2.com and the best part about it is it is only $7.00. The Lord has really used this book to show me personally some things that I need to improve in my home and school life. I have suggested that we get this book for our homeschool library. I'm almost finished with it if anyone else would like to read it just let me know.

THANK YOU

I want to thank Miss Julie Fink for the wonderful home school meeting that we attended on Monday night. I never want to take this ministry for granted. Miss Julie works very hard at preparing for these meetings. This month we talked about writing, Julie's ideas and suggestions were very helpful. She gave us web sites to research and fun projects to try. Thank You Julie for all your hard work for the home schoolers in our church. This is one of the many reasons I Love GBC.

Balance What is That

If anyone knows what balance means would they please in form me. We have struggled the last two weeks with mastering balance. There is always so many things to do. Do I teach or clean out a closet? Do I write the list of thank you notes or return the list of phone calls on the desk? Do I finish the book I'm reading or the mending project I started last week? Do I encourage my friend or take that much needed nap? Do I vacuum or dust? Do I make soup or casserole? Do I play with the kids or rake the leaves. It just seems like this week I have had a hard time balancing anything. I know I don't have any more to do than any one of my dear friends. I think of friends that have six or even ten children and I only have two. I ask my self why can't I balance. I try so hard and it seams that the harder that I try the more I fail. I know I do better on the days I'm in my Bible and I seem to do better on the days I'm not as tired. But even when I'm in the Bible and I get enough rest, I still don't think that I master BALANCE. If anyone has any schudule ideas or masters this please let me know?????????

Heavenly Husbands and Beautiful Blessings

It has been a rough week in this household. I have been sick. I never get sick and my family was not sure how to handle that. On Monday night I was in the emergency room asking the doctor to cut my head off at the base. I had the most painful sinuses infection in my life. My sweet husband tried to do up the dishes and tidy up where he could. But there will be a lot of catching up around here this weekend. In the mist of all this I had a few extra special blessings.

By Wednesday night I had not left the house and I had not gotten dressed yet for the week. My husband came home from church with a very sweet get well card that all my Kings Kids girls had signed. That just warmed my heart so much. I work in Kings Kids with one of the sweetest ladies of our church. I have been so blessed to get to know Cindy and she even offered us a meal because I felt so bad. What an encouragement Cindy is to me, as well as many others. Thank you Cindy for all your prayers and having the girls sign that card made me feel so touched. I'm sure your acts of kindness helped me feel better faster. I missed you guys and I'm looking forward to being back with you next week.

Another person that warmed my heart was another sweet lady in our church. I received a phone call from my sweet sister. I happen to have one of the best sweet sisters in the program. She is always praying for me. She writes me notes encouraging me to keep going. She talks to me every time I see her. Her sweet smile is a blessing to all of us. The little gifts that she gives me are the best. On Friday Miss Debbie called me. I can't begin to explain how that picked me up. It is a blessing to know when you are struggling that someone is thinking about you. Thank you Miss Debbie for being such a great sweet sister. I know that Lord will bless you abundantly for your kindness. Thank you for EVERY THING that you do for me. You are the best.

My husband has been my biggest blessing of all. He is a kind gentle man. He has taken really good care of me and my children this week very well. This morning he is taking his daughter to breakfast (just the two of them). For months he has taken our son to the Men's Prayer Breakfast at our church and she has asked to go (of course she can't) so Sam decided that once a month he would take his daughter to breakfast. That is another blessing that warms my heart. I have so many wonderful things to be thankful for. The Lord is so good to me and my family. I'm thankful to be a part of such a GREAT church where people care about people but most importantly people care about me. I have had a rough week but because of my great church and my wonderful husband I think we have gotten through it just fine. Thank you everyone who had a part in making my week special and thank you Lord for my heavenly husband and my beautiful blessings. Well I had better start cleaning this house is gross.

More Fun Pictures from Kings Kids

Kings Kids Harvest Party

Last night was the King Kids Harvest Party. Everyone was so cute. The boys and girls dressed up in Bible characters. All the children had a blast. We had pizza, hot dogs, and popcorn. What more could anyone ask for, oh yea we had candy and more candy. Yummy Yummy FUN. I was surprised at how much junior girls like musical chairs. It is s huge blessing to me to be a part of such a great program. I love my girls and I have learned so much from them. The Lord is in this wonderful program and in our WONDERFUL church. I feel privileged just to be able to be a part of the action.

What a Great Party

I Can't Find It!!!!!!!!!

Have you ever done this? I know I had...... But I just can't find it. You would think with a friend that is organized (especially Gina) I would know where everything is. I think I am going to pull my hair out. I can't find my pumps. I bought six liquid soap from Avon and I don't know where I put the pumps to go with the soap. I have looked all over the house and I know that they are here. I know God cares about the intimate details of my life but does her care about my soap pumps. In our house with little people we MUST have pumps for soap. My children tend to waste liquid soap as it is with out the pumps that soap is domed. One of the soaps even has a pumpkin sent. If anyone has any ideas or have seen my pumps PLEASE let me know. You know the funny thing of it all when I put them away I remember thinking "This would be a good spot to put these so I will have them when I need them" Go Figure

Family Time is Unbeatable

Have you ever been to a place were all the focus is on family. A place were your role as a mother is encouraged and respected. A place where everyone has the same goals and desires for their families. A place where God is the main focus and you can hear and say things that encourage you to walk with the Lord. A place where everyone in the room cheers you on for doing what you believe God has called you to do. A place where everyone home schools and believes that you are the best person for teaching your children the things of God as well as math and reading. I'm talking about Home School camp at Camp Joy. We just returned home from Camp Joy and we as a family had a blast. Dr. Davis was the guest speaker and he is the best teacher on relationships and child rearing that I have ever heard. He spoke on so many different things it would take me a long time to post it all. He talked about blessing your children. He talked about anger the destroyer. He talked about winning your child's heart. There were many other key topics that I plan to share in the future.
Camp was great, the food was great, and the fellowship was even better. Every meal the children would play in the game room after they ate and the parents would sit and talk and exchange ideas. It was wonderful to be in a place with like minded people and to be encouraged to keep going. The whole family had a wonderful time and I'm thankful that we were able to go. Anyone that home schools would benefit from this camp and hope we can take everyone with us next year.

A Productive Day

Well I think I'm done. It's 3:00pm and it's all done. We are packed for Camp Joy. The house is clean and I have just finished chocolote chip cookies for the road. We will be leaving in the morning so we will miss the pumpkin patch this year as well as the field trip(sad face). But, we are looking forward to what the Lord has to tell us about our decision to home school our children. We will tell you all about it on Monday.

We had company this afternoon and it was so much fun. My dear friend Gina came over and we played beauty palor. Gina went and got her hair cut and curled yesterday and we recurled it this afternoon. We felt like little school girls "playing" with our hair. I thank the Lord for giving me a good friend to "play" like a little kid with. Gina is a lot of fun and she looks VERY cute with curly hair. Everyone have a great weekend and I will post when we get back.

A Life Changing Weekend

At our church we are blessed to have a WONDERFUL man of God. Pastor David Fink has the unbelievable ability to take the Bible and make it come to life. We have learned that the Bible is real and it applies to our own personal life. This Sunday night was no exception. Pastor Fink preached a message form Matthew 4:1-15 on the temptation of Christ. Pastor talked about your own temptation and how it is not a sin to be tempted, the true test is how you handle that temptation. Are you prepared for the temptation? We need to flee temptation and not allow ourselves the chance to fail. That message really spoke to me about fleeing temptation and to stay in the fight. Pastor shared something special with us that I would like to share with you.

J Join the battle

We need to stay in the battle of the Christian life.
When we get out of the battle we effect so many people

E Exercise daily

We need to remain spiritually strong and fit so that we
have the strengh to remain in the fight.

S stay in the fight

U understand your Bible
We can't understand our Bibles if we are not in them everyday

S see the BIG picture
we are not in the ministry on our own. Everything that you do and say effects someone.

This was a wonderful sermon if you want to hear the entire thing you can go to gbcof lockport.com

The Lord Spoke to ME

This week we went to the Ladies Spectacular in Hammond. What a blessing to be a part of something so special. There were so many things spoke on that it would be hard to type it all. Mrs Jenkins spoke about being in the hand of God. I know I will never forget that I am loved by my God and that He keeps in the palm of His hand. I think sometimes ladies allow Satan to convince them that they are nobody. I have been so guilty of this at different times of my life.

Another speaker, Mrs. Cindy Schaap she spoke on respecting your husband. I know this is an area that I often can improve on as well. She said that you can NOT fear the Lord if you disrespect your husband. Every woman wants to fear the Lord.

Belinda spoke on "WHO IS YOUR WHO" we all have influences in our lives and they help make you who you are. I can think of a lot of people that have had an influence in my life. One of the most resent is Mrs. Julie Fink. Julie has taught me both by her words and her ex sample how to walk with the Lord. She has taught me how to be the wife and mother God has called me to be. She has encouraged me to be a soul winner and to stay faithful to the things of the Lord. Julie has always seen the good in me even when I have felt that I wasn't so good. Julie has been a dear friend and very faithful Pastor's wife. Thank You Julie for taking me to the Ladies Conference and thank you for being a "WHO" in my life. My life has for ever changed for the good because of your influence.

There were many people saved because of the spectacular. I wish each and every one of you could have been there as they were announcing the salvation that had taken place DURNING the conference. I think that was the biggest blessing of all. I could not help myself as they were reading those names the tears began to flow and I had a hard time stopping them. The Lord used this conference to reach MANY people for the gospel of Jesus Christ. It was a wonderful week and a real time of refreshment to my soul. I love the Lord. I love my church. I love my Pastor and his very special wife. Life IS good and it has been a great week. Next week our family is going to Camp Joy and we can hardly wait.

Long Time No Blog

I have missed all of you. Things at the Todd household have been very busy. Lots of birthdays, first haircuts, and ladies meeting have not left much time for the computer. Adam had a wonderful birthday and Paige had her first haircut last weekend. My little niece Heather is working at the Hair Cuttery and she gave Paige her first haircut. It was so sweet. I have really enjoyed having a "girl". Paige is all girl and her mommy just loves it. It is a blessing to be a mom and too be able to be with my children all the time. I enjoy when I get a break but it is sure nice to be home.

Window Treatments and Shopping

Today I was very blessed again. My in-laws came over this morning and hung the rest of my window treatment and they look just beautiful. While they were hear I was able to get out and get some much needed shopping done. Adam Collins is turning one on Sunday and Hunter (Quin's little friend) has a birthday on Saturday. I was able to get all the birthday shopping done. Thank You mom and dad you are the best baby sitters and I am the most fortunate mom. Overall it was a great and productive day. I'm very encouraged by days like today. (it helps you get through the bad ones).

Up Date on Sam

Many of you have been praying for my husband and his ear problems. We have the results of the MRI and he does not have a tumor as the doctor had originally thought. On Thursady he is having a CT Scan the Dr. believes that he might have two bones rubbing together causung the ringing in his ear. We are thankful to the Lord that he does not have a tumor. I will keep you informed as we know more. Thank You to each and everyone of you for your prayers and concern while the doctors try to figure this out. Praise the Lord no tumor.

A Great Weekend

I just wanted to share what a wonderful weekend that we had. On Friday night I had the "BEST" ladies night out that I believe that I have ever had. At our wonderful church we have a lot of very nice ladies events. Friday night was a extra special night I don't know if it was because I needed it so baldly or because it was a extra special event any way IT WAS GREAT. I laughed so hard at the skit. I was blessed and encouraged by the devotion. The food was wonderful and the fellowship was refreshing and relaxing. Thank you Miss Julie and her team for all the hard work to make it happen.

Saturday we had a Nursery Workers Luncheon at the Olive Garden. What a blessing to be working under a Pastor that appreciates all the work you do. The food was great (Who doesn't like the Olive Garden?). The fellowship was wonderful. It was FUN-- FUN----FUN. The final count for the Sweet Sister Fellowship is 30 ladies signed up to participate in the fun.

Saturday evening we went to my sister-in-law's house to celebrate my mother-in-law birthday. It was a good evening enjoyed by all. Happy Birthday Grandma.
It was a full weekend but a weekend full of blessings.

A Full Friday

It has been quite a day and at 12:30AM I should be sleeping. BUT*********What a day. This morning my dear friend Gina was making something and called to ask me if I had an ingredient that she needed and while I was checking for her my two year old decided to color on the wall with a black crayon. As hard as I tried to hold back frustration over took me. I decided that the only way to handle the situation was to go play at the park with the homeschoolers. As we were leaving the park I put my beautiful two year old daughter in her car seat I turned around to say something to another lady and she painted the inside of the van and herself with exterior van paint. (Hint for the day "if this ever happens to you rubbing alcohol is wonderful and is safe for skin"). I have to say at this point I can't WAIT until the Ladies Tea.

The Ladies Tea was sooo much FUN. The food was great and the fellowship was even better. The skits, testimony and devotions were good too. Praise the Lord 24 ladies signed up for the Sweet Sister Program. The Lord keep pouring out his blessings over and over again. We have Jackie's wake in the morning and then a Nursery Luncheon at noon. In the evening we have a birthday party for my mother-in-law. Tomorrow is another busy day and today was busy as well. I think that I need to go to bed. Thank Lord for all you have done.

Happy Birthday Conner

HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY CONNER. You are a very blessed little man. You have a GREAT mommy and daddy and an AWESOME grandma and grandpa. I hope you had a good birthday and I look forward to seeing more pictures of you and watching you grow and some day you can serve the Lord just like mommy and daddy do. Happy Birthday Conner

THANK GOD FOR FAMILY

Today was a very busy day. My mother-in-law and my father-in-law came out and spent the day with us. We got several new window treatments from them and they came over and spent the day hanging them up. (pics to follow) . The windows look great and grandma and grandpa are always a lot of fun. Tonight we went swimming at the YMCA. Paige loves the water and Quin is becoming a very good swimmer. Mommy has had a full day and I'm tired. Good night

Happy Belated Birthday Edith

September 30th was Edith's 79th birthday. We had the prividledge of taking her out for supper on Saturday and that was lots of fun. Edith is a real blessing to me and my family. I can't believe it we have known Edith for 18 wonderful years. Any one who knows Edith know how much of a blessing that she is to be around. I just want to say Happy Happy Birthday Edith. We love you

What A Week

I really don't know where to begin. It has been a wild and wonderful few days. I guess the best place to begin is on the best day Sunday. Anniversary Sunday was wonderful. (thanks for the pics Debbie camera lost battery early in the day) The weather was beautiful and message was a blessing. We were excited to see our friends join us for the day. They brought 8 of their 11 children with them. They are a very sweet family and they could not stop talking about how friendly the church is and how welcome that felt by everyone. Thank you GBC Your the best. Sunday night we had a real "home" feeling and that feeling is always warming to my heart.

That brings me to Monday. My husband saw the doctor on Monday and the doctor believes that he has tumor on his left ear canal which is what causing all the dizziness. They have ordered a MRI to make sure. If the tumor is there he will have to have surgery to remove it . We will know more next week.

Please pray for our friend Ray Garton. On Monday afternoon his wife Jackie Garton passed away. Jackie was my son's first piano teacher (before we met the wonderful Trish). Jackie was only 50 years old and this came as a shock to most people. Jackie was a saved lady but her husband is not doing very well. He had to take care of all the piano students as well as everything else that goes along with losing your wife. I'm trying to do all I can to help him with the business. Services for Jackie will Saturday. Please pray for the family.

A Test of Faith

The Todd family had a very trying day today. We had planned to go to the home school field trip at Dellwood Park today, but the Lord had other plans. First of all my two year old woke up at 5:30 am. Let's just say by 10.00am she was in rare form. I then got on the phone and called all my great friends and know one was able to pick Quin up. Our day started out with disappointments.

At 3:00pm my husband called me and said that he was not feeling well and that he was coming home. I'm thankful that I was home for him. I now know why we never made it to the park. When my wonderful husband got home we went to lay down. When he got up he complained of dizziness and a LOUD ringing in his ears. He also had a headache. After taking my kids to a sitter we went straight to E.R. The doctor did a C.T.Scan and he has a problem called Maires Diorder (I'm not sure of the spelling) and it can be treated with medication to control it. He has to go see a E.N.T. on Monday or Tuesday. Right now all he can do is try to not move too fast or lift anything heavy. We will see another doctor later in the week. Pray that his problem is mild and that he will not be to uncomortable. The Lord is so good to our family, and he has given me the best man anyone could ask for. I'm very thankful to the Lord in His mercy, that this was not more serious. I love my husband and my children think he is the best daddy in the world. Thank Lord for your protection in a trying time. Thank Lord for the medical staff that was there for us in a time of need. Thank You most of all for the wonderful family that you have given me to enjoy. Thank You Lord for it all.

BLESSING AFTER BLESSING

I had some high blood sugars and I really have not felt very good this week. Yesterday afternoon I had a big surprise knock on my front door. It was my DEAR friend Miss Linda. Ladies I have to tell you that almost every time I feel discouraged the sweet Miss Linda comes to my aid. It's almost like she knows when to come even when I have not told her what is on my heart. When Miss Linda walked in my house with these beautiful mums I felt so loved I can't even explain how special that was to me. Thank You Miss Linda for the wonderful flowers and thank you Lord for sending me extra special friends to love on me. Linda and God your the best.

You Won't Believe It

I can't believe it myself. Our family received a extra blessing this week. Last night as my husband was going over our phone bill he asked me if I was aware of a $14.95 charge for an e-mail service. I told him that we have e-mail through our Internet provider and that there should not be any reason that we should be charged extra money. He asked me to call the company and find out why we were being charged every month. After calling I found out that we had been scamed. We were paying $14.95 for 10 months and my husband had not realized it. In the next seven to ten business days we will be receiving a $160.00 refund on our phone. The total refund is $16.07 a month for 10 months. This is a club that we did not join that gives a discount on on-line shopping. We don't even shop on-line. THANK YOU LORD for the extra blessing this week. We are thankful for a faithful God who is SO SO SO faithful to us.

What's For Dinner????????

I have a funny story that took place three weeks after our wedding. My husband called home and asked "What's for Dinner?" I then so proudly informed him GOULASH. He then said he was not coming home. Can you imagine my shock with my new husband? In my house growing up goulash was elbow macaroni and hamburger and tomatoes with ketsup. Yummy Well in his house growing up goulash was always on Friday night and it was ALL the leftovers in the fridge from the week. His mom would add it all together throw cheese on the top of it and bake it. YUCK I soon learned that if I did that he wasn't coming home. (I have never done that). Well tonight's dinner is going to be interesting. We are having FRIDGE Surprise I don't plan on putting any together but I will say everyone in the house will eat a different leftover and I pray me family will be thankful. If you don't hear from me in a couple of days please send a search party. Bone Appetite

Glad I Did/ My Best Decision

This afternoon as I was reading the blogs of my friends the question was asked "What was the best decision you ever made?" So I thought I would ponder a few answers to share with you.

I am VERY VERY VERY Blessed because

1. I made the decision to accept Christ as my personal Savior at the tender age of four. I am blessed because I had parents that loved me enough to show me the things of God very young.

2. I made a decision to marry a man that was, and is, following the things of the Lord in all he does. I am very blessed to have a husband that loves me unconditionally and supports his family and is listening to the things of the Lord on a daily basis.

3.I made a decision to follow my husband to the best church in the World. I am blessed to be a active member of a Bible Believing church. I am blessed to have the best Pastor and his wife as our leaders. I am blessed to be a part of the Grace Baptist Church and to know Pastor and Miss Julie (we love them very much).

4. I made a decision (with my husband) to expand our family and adopt our beautiful baby girl. I am blessed to be the mother of two beautiful children. I am blessed to have the chance to home school and to train my children Biblically.

There are a lot of decisions that I have made that are not good over the years. But I know the above decision have made me a very blessed lady. I know that the Lord loves me and my family. I know that the Lord loves you. Count your Blessings, name them one by one. It will surprise you what the Lord has done. As you make decisions seek the Lord in all you do and follow your husband. Most of the time the Lord will give your husband the answer and then make the right decision. That is what I strive to do daily. May God Bless each and every one of you just like he has me. Thank You Lord.

New Ideas

Because thing get very busy and life OFTEN gets in the way of blogging. Some of the blogs that I enjoy are on vacation so I went exploring and I found a group of Christian ladies (blogs) and I have enjoyed reading them from time to time. Most of them talk about cleaning and cooking. A few of them home school and ALL of them stay home and take care of their families. I'm not saying that I agree with every thing that all of them say. I very rarely comment on any of them. But I have enjoyed looking at other peoples cleaning routines, and modest clothes I was not aware of, and opinions on strong willed children or home school ideas. So if anyone is interested I added Keeper at Home (Sharon )to my links of the blogs that I read. And she has a long list of very good blogs about "practical Household ideas" that I have enjoyed reading. ENJOY

Extra Fun on Family Night

Tonight was a extra special family night. My husband and I promised our son that when he passed all of his songs in his piano book that we would take him miniature golfing. Tonight was "The Night" and as an extra special treat we "kidnapped" Josh, James and Jenna. We all had so much fun. It was a great evening. Jenna won a free game in the ball return and the added children made the evening extra fun. I thank the Lord for my family and I thank the Lord for good friends that allow us to spend quality time with their kids as well. Thanks Bill and Gina for the loan (the kids). I just loved it because blessed is the man whose quiver is full.

A Very Sweet Couple

Today was our last Sunday teaching the 3&4 years olds at our church. My husband and I have been asked by our pastor to work in other areas of our local church. We are servants of the Lord and we are willing to do what ever we are asked to do. Today was a very emotional day for me. I'm very excited because I get the chance to be in Miss Julie's Sunday School class and I can't wait. (I have wanted to go in that class since it started) On the other hand I will miss all the special little people in our class. The Lord has allowed my husband and I to teach that class for two years and I taught it with another lady before that time. Even before we had Sunday School in the "house" I helped with that age group in the nursery for Sunday School. I have been asked to work with the older girls on Wednesday nights. That will be a exciting and different experience. Even last week I was asked by one of the girls if she could use the restroom and I told her I would take her in a minute. I had to really stop and think, (5th graders don't need a teacher to go with them like a three year old might.) (I was so embarrassed). Anyway we look forward to what the Lord has for us to do as we make changes to our areas of Christian service. The 3&4 years olds are gaining one of the sweetest couples that you will ever meet. Mr Mickey and Miss Marlyin are taking over our class and the kids are in for a real treat. They love life and the love the Lord. I wish everyone could have seen the two of them running around the room this morning pretending that they were different animals getting on the ark, It was so cute. The Lord has blessed us in allowing us to teach the little ones as long as we did and I know Mr. Mickey and Miss Marlyin are going to be GREAT as the new teachers. We will pray for them and we are thankful that they are up and ready to teach. Praise the Lord for all His "little" blessings

A Good Start to a Nice Weekend

We have had a great weekend so far. We began with chapel on Friday morning. Quin had so much fun. He was concerned about going because he did not know what to except, but once he got there he loved it. The Lord taught me a real lesson about faith Friday morning. I tend to worry about too much when I don't know what to except. I as a parent,I knew chapel was going to be just fine so I tried to get my son to stretch his faith. Faith in his God, faith in his pastor, and faith that his parents were going to keep him save. I need to stretch my faith when the Lord asks me to do something that I am unsure about. I need to believe that the Lord is not going to let anything happen to hurt me either. Sometimes my faith can become very weak. I learned a good lesson I can put into practice the next time my faith is tested.

Friday after chapel my mother-in-law called and asked if they could come out and hang curtains in Quin's room and they said that we could go on a date. I was so excited we went out for dinner and then we walked around IKEA. That was alot of fun.

Saturday has been a normal day. Tonight is family night and I was able to find a good wholesome movie at the library called THE SUGAR CREEK GANG and the GREAT CANOE FISH. I can't wait until we can find the books for this collection. The movies was great. Tomorrow we are going to a friends for lunch and then we are going to watch a parade after church. So far it has been a great weekend.

Satan Wants YOUR first Born

Did you know that most of the United States Presidents were first born? Did you know if Satan can have your first born that the rest of your children may fall from the truth like dominoes? Did you know that in the Bible God deals very hard with the first born. God wants our first. The first sheep, the first lamb or ox, the first fruits , the first money (tithe) and the first day of the week, our worship.
Last night our family watched a DVD from the homeschooling library on WHY SATAN WANTS YOUR 1ST BORN by Dr. S.M. Davis. Dr Davis is preaching a sermon on the first born. I would recommend this DVD to every family I know. It was VERY VERY VERY good. Both my husband and I are planning on watching it again before we have to return it. Everything that Dr. Davis says is so true. If you haven't had a chance to view this tape in our opinion you need to make the time to see it. I guarantee you will not be sorry. Thank You so much Pastor Dave, Miss Julie and Brother Larry for the new library. WE love it. As far as this DVD it will change the way you parent for the rest of your life. Take the time to watch it. It's time for school. Dr. Davis is speaking at Camp Joy for the homeschoolers and we can't wait to hear him in person. I have to go for now.

The New Bedroom & Green Eggs and Ham

IT'S OFFICIAL Quin is sleeping in the basement in his own room. He has been in his army room for three nights in a row and he wants to be in the quiet basement come bed time. Praise the Lord he is growing up so nicely.

In our home we are trying to encourage good reading and one of the books that we read was GREEN EGGS AND HAM by Dr.Seuss. Last Night at dinner mom served green eggs and ham. Quin was so excited. The book was fun to read and the "green eggs" were fun to eat. (well to some of us).

Last night was a extra special blessing to the homeschoolers. We are very privileged to be a part of such a wonderful homeschooling support group at the Grace Baptist Church. We are looking forward to all the wonderful field trips, chapels with Pastor Dave and free pizza with the Book It program. We also now have access to a nice Godly library. Thank You Brother Larry for all your hard work getting the library set up for us. We love homeschooling and the added support helps each one of us to do what the Lord has called us to do. Thank You Grace Baptist. Well I need to make lunch Bye for now.

THe New bedroom

Tonight has been the second night Quin has tried to sleep in his new bedroom in the basement. I promised that I would blog his new bed but he has to sleep in the bed all night long, and that has not happened yet. Last night was that cutest thing at 12:30am Quin came all the way up to my room (that is 3 flights of stairs) and said he had to use the bathroom (there is a bathroom right off of his bed room). He then went into his sister's room (his old room) and slept on the floor. In the morning he asked me how he ended up in Paige's room. He claims he does not remember climbing all those stairs. hehehe.

We had a nice day today. It's Thursday so we slept late and did school in the mid morning. Daddy called and asked us if we wanted to meet him for lunch. That was LOTS OF FUN. On the way home for lunch we stopped and picked up Gina, James , Josh and Jenna and we all headed to the library. At the end it was a peaceful and nice day. I thank the Lord when we have days like this.

Happy Labor Day

Today was a VERY nice day. We had planned to meet our friends Bob & Linda for breakfast but we slept to late. (I love laid back friends that still love you even when your plans change). After we finally woke up and got moving my hubby wanted to take us all out for breakfast. We then stopped and looked for me a jumper but had no success. ( I'm looking for a denim jumper for Kings Kids if any one knows where to find one Please let me know). After our morning out I took my family home and headed for the book store for some much needed time alone. This evening I had my in-laws for brats on the grill.

Quinten got a new camie bed spread and sheets for his new room. He is officially moved to the down stairs bedroom. He is very excited about his new room but is not quite ready to sleep in the basement by himself. I will post pictures later.

Over all we had a very much needed quiet day. It was a blessing to be with my family and it was a blessing to be alone for a little while as well. The Lord is very good to our family and I feel very blessed. I hope every ones day was as nice as the one we had. Thank You Lord for a beautiful day.

Which Way To GO

Well it the holiday weekend. At the Todd household it has been a full summer. It's Saturday morning and my husband is working again. I'm very thankful for all the over time it's how we make it through the winter. He tells me that he is putting in 16 hours days next week. Praise the Lord for His provision of a good job and the overtime is wonderful. BUT........
Ladies my heart is torn. What do I do???????? My husband has said that he will watch the kids on Monday so that I can be alone or maybe I'll spend some time with a friend. There is so many "Saturday" type things that we need to get done. And we have not had the day as a family in a very long time. I'm torn. I know that I need to be refreshed because we are facing another long busy week with the kids.

Well, I think all my friends will be with their families. I'm not sure where I would go to be alone with God (other than my bedroom where I know they will find me). I know I would enjoy a family day but that does not get any thing done around the house. So many decisions and only one holiday. Any ideas????????

Ladies Ladies Ladies

I have had the wonderful opportunity to "entertain" the ladies. My Grandmother, Vivian is 84 years old. My Great Aunt Lou Lou is 81 years old. And my very dear friend Edith is 79 years old. Vivian and Lou Lou are visiting from Michigan this week and I have been very blessed by these ladies so much. We can learn so much from Senior Saints. The things that we talk about and the places that we go have taught me so much about life and I am very thankful. Here was our week.

Monday I took the ladies to Spaghetti Warehouse for lunch and then shopping in Naperville. Tuesday evening the ladies came for dinner at our house. On Wednesday the kids had piano and the ladies seemed to really enjoy that. Today my mom took the ladies to Red Robin for lunch. Tomorrow I will take Vivian to the airport (she is flying to Florida for the winter) and my step dad will drive Lou Lou home to Michigan. If you ever get a chance spent some time with the senior population you will be blessed.

I don't know when I can post again. Our computer is acting up real bad since the last storm. We are going to have to get to the bottom of that this weekend. We have started school last week and all is going well. I have to run for now. Hopefully I can post again soon.

A Shelter in the Time of Storm

I just want to Praise the Lord for good friends in a time of need. As we were going to bed on Thursday night we heard what sounded like a gun shot outside our bedroom window. As the loud noise sounded all the power in the house blacked out. The rain was coming down so hard and so fast my husband and I both ran to the basement and started bailing water. Because we had no sump pump we found ourselves getting up and bailing every hour all night long. I wasn't sure what I was going to do, because when we lose power we lose everything we lose water ( we are on a well and septic) we lose toilet and of course lights.
Friday morning the kids and I "checked in" to a beautiful bed and breakfast called Lake Lindahl. The water from the creek behind Gina's house was so high that we were calling it Lake Lindahl. Josh was actually able to put a fishing boat in the water. You should have seen the way he floated that boat in the water. Being a house guest at the Lindahl is like staying at a five star hotel. I felt a little guilty when Gina brought me coffee at my bed side this morning. We checked in to the motel at 8:30 a.m. Friday morning and we checked out on Saturday after soul winning. I have to say I was not thrilled to see the power go out(for 48 hours)but it sure was fun to move in with such a good friend. I can't describe how thankful I am for such a great friend. Thanks to Bill for the use of his generator no food was lost. Gina I love you. Your the best!!!!! Thank you so much. Well the power is on and I have to get ready for Sunday. I hope everyone has a great weekend.

My Sweet Little Angel

As I put my kids to bed tonight the Lord gave me a extra special blessing. I had gone through the stories and the night night prays as we do every night. (it is also a blessing to listen to my husband pray with our kids before bed time. It will warm your heart all over again). I had decided to take a warm bath. After my bath I peaked in my daughter's room and here is what I saw. Paige had all her babies (dolls) lined up on the side of her crib. Each baby had a blanket of her own. And each baby was listening to mommy Paige read them a story. It was soooo cute. About half way through the story Paige stopped reading and put one of the babies binkies back into the dolls mouth. She made sure that EACH baby was properly covered up with a blanket and she continued to read. I was so thrilled as I watched this from afar (for about 10 minutes I couldn't help it). I am so blessed to have a little girl. I love the pink and purple everything. I love to dress her in her "pretty dress". I love the bows and ribbons. God has been so good to us to give us Paige. But what I love that most is that I have the opportunity to raise up in the Lord someone who is going to (by God's Grace) know her role and nurture her children. My husband and I pray that Paige will some day be a wife and mother and she will raise Godly children. In a dark and dying world we need more woman who will stay were God wants them to be at home raising children. I love to watch even my two year old "mother" her babies. "Thank You Lord for my children and for allowing me to train them for such a short time in the things of YOU". In Jesus name Amen I am truly blessed.

Mission Organization Came a Day Early

We have had a very full day. There have been so many things that I have wanted to get done before I start school and I just have had such a busy summer that there just has not been the time to complete them. This morning about 9:30 am I received the call that any girl would be DELIGHTED to receive. It was Miss Organization (aka Gina). She asked my what my day was looking like and if I wanted help with my little list of things to do. If anyone has ever had Gina come to your house you know that I would be a FOOL to turn down such a generious offer. I just love Gina and the heart that she has to help others. We went through all the toys, we cleaned out all the kitchen drawers and we de-cluttered the counters in the kitchen. We also were able to go through my daughters clothes and now only the things that fit her are in her drawers. Words can not express to you how much I love Gina and how thankful I am that she came to be a blessing to me today. In a world of self centered people Gina stands out of the crowd. I can't thank her enough for all she has done for me today and over the years. Thank You Gina I love you. I'm not done with the things on my list but I have a great start. I was very blessed today because Mission Organization came to my house day early.

I also was able to help some friends with their insurance needs today. My daughter had speech the kids all had a blast playing together all day. Bill was working late so they were able to stay for dinner. All and all it was a good and productive day. Thank You Lord for another day of a good life.

The Strike is Over

Last Sunday night I sat down to update my blog and after 45 minutes of typing I was logged off and not able to post. The Bible says that at some time you will became offended, well it's official my computer has offended me. I have forgiven the device and I'm now back to blogging. So many things have happened since my last post I could not possibly post it all.

Quinten left for Oregon on Thursday and returned on Monday. I cried my eyes out the whole time he was gone. Everything went well and he is home safe.

Paige is talking more and more. I'm so very thankful the Lord choose to give us a girl. I just love the pony tails and the dolls and all the pink and purple. She LOVES to fold laundry and help unload the dishwasher. I can't believe how big she has become.

We had a wonderful date last Friday and I miss the time we have alone. The dates we get the best. We went to Pop belly Sandwiches. Yummy

Quin was talking to Trish about meeting Patch the Pirate. Quin's life long goal is to meet Patch the Pirate and to go on the Jolly Rodger. He is so cute about it. He had 2000 question all about the encounter I pray we get a chance to do that before he is too old to be excited about it. He asked my husband if he had ever met Patch the Pirate my husband said he did when he was 19 years old. Quin then wanted to know how old I was , When Sam said "That would have made me 13" Quin thought that was so funny. He said "WOW" "Patch the Pirate must be like 100 years old." Kids are so funny. I guess it's all prospective.

A Good Day

Iam blessed with such a wondrful family. This morning I woke up to some very soft whispering and my husband telling me to stay in bed. After I fell back to sleep I was awaken with a soft kiss on the cheek and BREAKFAST IN BED, I couldn't believe my eyes. I was served coffee, pancakes, an egg, some OJ, and best of all strawberries from the yard. It's not Mother's Day. It's not my birthday. I am just plain blessed with a wonderful husband and two wonderful children.

After breakfast Sam mowed the grass and I finished up with laundry. This afternoon we met with Miss Jule for some very helpful hints on the new school year. (If you get a chance talk to Miss Julie she is a very wise woman on ways to improve your teaching and she is willing to help our children in school.) This evening we out for dinner in Wilmington and to the park so the kids can play. We are now getting ready to put little one to bed and prepare last minite packing for the Lord's day. The Sunday school bag and the diaper bag are almost ready to go. I have to finish up with lunch and get my pie ready for the Fellowship tomarrow night. May each one of you have a very special Lords day. I am thankful for such a good life.

My New Bedroom

When I was in Amish country I had found the bedspread and bed ruffele that I have been looking for. It is so pretty and it matches my freashly painted walls perfectly. I thank the Lord for a HARD working husband that gives us the "SWEET" little extra things that we want or need. I feel very blessed each time I go into my new bedroom. I thought you might enjoy peaking.

Thank God for Special People

I just want to Praise the Lord for what He did for our family this week. On Thrusday I was on my way to the doctor and the power on the dashboard in my van went out. It was raining and the speedometer and rph gage and the gas gage was moving back and forth as fast as the windsheild whipers. My faith was really tested as I had visions of myself not making it to the doctor or being able to pick up my kids. As Bill stated Wednesday night I had a very good prayer life at that momement. I got myself to the doctor and home as carefully as I could. I'm very thankful for Mickey at Legion Auto the van was fixed and It didn't take our lives saving. I can now be on the list of the many people that turn to Legion Auto in a time of need. As I was dropping off my van I ran into another lady from GBC and she metioned that she ran into someone else as she was dropping off her car as well. What a blessing it is to have someone you trust work on your car. THANK YOU Mickey for all you do for our church family and THANK YOU most of all for what you did for the Todd family today. Thank God for special people.
